On the Linda and Wiz kid saga.

So over the weekend, there was much ado about the beef between Wizkid and Linda escalating because Wizkid had gone on Linda's instagram page to insult her as seen in the picture below- because Linda exposed the fact that the home he lived in was for rent and he was being evicted.

After insulting her, Linda thought to address the allegations in the insult by putting out this write up on her blog:

So my darling little 'friend' Wizkid came on my IG page this morning to blast me for writing yesterday that he was given quit notice at the Lekki home he claimed he bought some years ago, which he actually rented. He threatened to beat me up...called me an ugly old bitch...(I'm ugly? lol) says I don't have a man (crying over that..) and called my mum a loser...(what a child).

Anyway, all that don't matter, people have said worse to me...what I wanted to address is the part where he said I slept with his director and he left me in a hotel...that one I will definitely want to address because some people actually believe it. That my dear friends, is a lie! Please continue...


First and foremost, I've never met Wizkid one on one. I've only seen him once in real life on stage at a show a few years ago. I've never met anybody who is his director. Guess he put that line in his comments to defame me. You that mad that people now know the house is not yours? Lol.

Trust me, if I knew someone was Wizkid's director, I'd rather kill myself than sleep with him or any other entertainer for that matter (except maybe he's my husband..hehe) because I know how some of these entertainers are...they kiss and tell a lot. You can't afford to be messing around in their circle. So, no, I have NEVER slept with Wizkid's director. I live a celibate life..most of the time. (Though, that has to end soon...I'm getting old and missing out on that part of life...lol)

I've always been an advocate of women respecting their bodies and owning their own. And I feel sex should only happen when you're in committed relationship (that is if you can't wait till marriage) and I recommend celibacy for a long as you're not committed to someone. There's absolutely no dignity in sleeping around and messing around with different men. It's ugly and God don't like ugly. So no, I'm not that woman, and will never be that woman. Nice try, Wizkid! 

Having said that, I'm sure, you wonder why Wizkid is so mad at me? To be honest, I don't know either. All I know is that his beef with me started a long time ago but he decided to start bashing me online after I refused a meeting with him. A few months ago, he asked his PR people to contact me, that he wanted to talk to me. For some reason, he thought I didn't like him and I was hurting his image online. He wanted to see how I could write more positive things about him but I turned down the meeting. Not that I have anything against him, I sincerely don't! I think he's an amazing talent and one of the few music stars in Nigeria with a midas touch. So this wasn't personal. I just didn't want to meet him. If he lobbies me then it means I won't be able to write anything about him anymore...and my job is to write...about everything, including entertainers.

I am cordial with some of them...many of them I have never met. I try to stay away from gatherings where they are because the more friends you make in the entertainment industry, the less you can write. And that will inadvertently affect your work. The few ones that I call acquaintances, it's hard to write about them because you feel you're cool with them and even when you write, they call you to complain. So, the fewer 'friends' I have in the entertainment industry, the better my job will be.

So Wizkid can bash me all he wants...but I will continue to do my job. Maybe he thinks the more he bashes me, then I will stop writing about him? Won't work. But meanwhile, if he tells a lie about me, I will address it. LIB plans to be around for a long time...some of these people will come and go! :-).

For me, I thought Linda's response was very mature but people seemed to think she was "feigning being mature" and saying that she was "vindictive and a meanie". Hmmmm.
I just think that this Wizkid is a very stupid boy who, typical of young'ns in the entertainment industry, has no respect for their elders. I know it must be very annoying to be constantly written about and have your privacy put out in the open but methinks that that's what you sign up for when you are a celebrated artiste- to get so bitter that you begin to lash out at the writer, talking about whose privates smells like fish and who was bedded by another is just low, petty and oh-so-infantile.

However, what really got me is that after Linda's response to the "child's" irrational outburst, people were still coming for her with, "What does she mean she is celibate SOME/MOST of the time?" (Who cares and why does it matter what it means to anybody?)
"Why does she see the need to explain who bedded her or not? Madam, you've been caught out being bedded and dumped so hush!" "Old woman, so you will not let this smallie rest?" "Choi! Wizzy finished her whole lineage, madam, I bet your banana island camp cannot even console you on this one!" and the recent one I saw, "Choi. True true, I just checked Linda at 25, Nada, Buhahahaha! Wiz kid o!" (from a woman no less).
#sigh.
But why the hate? It seems there isn't any love for Linda in Nigeria and I can't understand why.
Yes, she shows off and has a "poor man's mentality" according to people but it is her money ba? She is contributing her quota by helping young women not so? Why the hate?
Who cares if she was not made by 25 years of age- she is a billionaire in her 30's is she not?
She writes a gossip blog and tends to put people's crap out there- that has got to hurt on so many levels but I truly think that these celebs can and should choose to live above it all and totally ignore what's been said about them- do you not see how Linda ignores things said about her?

I, for one, really like Linda. Yes, sometimes some things she does make me cringe but, generally, I really like her because she is proof, like a few notable women in Nigeria, Folorunsho Alakija, Chimamanda, etc, that, yes, a Nigerian woman can!
Why the digs? I would think that there would just be general bias and love for her and yet you see people spew things like, "I bet you cannot come out of your house as you'll be kidnapped!" "They'll soon assassinate you!"- Has it reached that level?
The people that they would send to assassinate her, they are not proud to hear the best African blogger is Linda nwa Mazi Ikeji from Naija?

There is this story about Ojukwu I read in the papers years ago.
He had been in his car with some security and they'd been travelling across states at midnight and were waylaid by heavily armed robbers. As the car in front was being raided abi stopped, one of the security said they were with "Ojukwu", the robbers immediately perked up,
"You mean say Ojukwu dey the other car?!" They went to verify and had begun hailing him when they realised that it was infact Ojukwu in the car, 
" Baba! Baba! Ah, oga we no know say na you o, ah!....".
They then let them drive off and warned them of a point ahead where some of their members were operating.
Ojukwu said that after that incident, whenever his wife and himself got into a quarrel, she'd say, "Eze ndi ohi!" meaning "King of theives", lol.
That story made me so warm inside because it just shows how respect precedes you. I would have thought that this would be the general feeling towards Linda from Nigerians but it seems I am so wrong.

So I ask you, why do you think this is the case? Why do people seem to have ambivalent feelings towards Linda? Because it does seem that they love her but also hate her, why do you reckon this is?

Just me catching up on and giving my own view of stale gist.
